My husband and I have been together six years. Before I get into the messed up things, I want to explain my husband. He is a charming, handsome, sucessful Airmen. He’s funny and affectionate, always complimenting me, always supporting my desions, and a very good father…he runs me bubble baths, takes me shopping, tells me I’m beautiful, allows me to go out without any issues…he is a GREAT guy on one hand. On the other hand, he has this other side that is manipulative and abusive, and crazy. It used to happen every couple of months…now it further apart, but is worse than before. We have made it through a lot of problems…before we were married he had an addiction to pot and porn, which he would hide from me…sneaking out in the middle of the night. He also had a HUGE issue with straying, esp with my friends…(mostly trying to kiss them, cuddling, ect…) He also had a problem with anger, we would fight, and then I would get so hurt when I’d find out about his running around, I’d slap him, then he’d hit me back. Once he backhanded me for literally no reason…other than he was frustrated with someone he was on the phone with and i was complaining bc the person was a drunk wanting a ride. A few times he is the one who would hit me first. Once he dragged my wedding gown out to the fire pit to be burned…(I blame that on drugs) but he would always cry and apologize and hate himself….then after we were married I thought things would be okay.

i got a great job and we lived in a huge home, my sister needed a place to stay…and you can prolly see where this is going…it started with him looking at her nudie pics on her phone…they slept together and didn’t tell me until a year later, when he was in boot camp. I left him, and dated a guy…but decided to give him a second chance, because the previous year had been so awesome and he and I were fulfilling a dream together…

So we got stationed in FL, and things were really exciting for a while, then the stress built up and he was smashing doors and telling me I was worthless…grabbing and shoving me…it was crazy there I went into my closet and seriously considered killing myself. My sleeping son is the only reason I didn’t.

he went to anger management, and we went to one session of counceling, where all the counselor wanted to do was blame it on his bad child hood….(he has been to many counceling sessions to deal with his abusive past…)

the last straw for me was when he devolped a crush on a friend, and wouldn’t come home from her house,,,the next weekend, he got so drunk he was grabbing me and wrenching my arms behind my back at a club bc it was time to leave to get our son and he didn’t want to. 5 of his co-workers had to witness that, and no, none of them did anything…even when he was calling me a whore, telling me to spread my legs, and being vulgar on the way back…he was screaming BRITANEEEEE over and over again, and all i could do is ball…then he tried punching out the windows, and locked me and my son out of the house…threatining to take all the money if I got a hotel.

Then, the next day, he is tending our flowers, bringing me a cup of coffee, so sad and upset with himself…we are seperated right now…and i told him I am falling for someone else…he said thats fine, but I need to work out things with this guy and come home and try counceling again…he has our son with his mother…and they are doing welll…hes awesome at being a dad…hes never even raised his voice to our son.

I am working in new york, and he is being so kind and funny and just awesome…meanwhile I’m left in this hard spot…and don’t know what to do…i can’t be away from my son for much longer, but my husband is very manpulative, and i’m afraid I will get sucked back in.

Like any marriage we have other problems, like I feel I have to mother him, and i can never do enuff…he patronizes a lot, telling me my life isn’t that hard the laundry can’t be done…I just feel numb, but am afraid to make the wrong choice. I never wanted a divorce.

okay as soon as you found out that he had slept with your sister you should have left hi you dont feel disgusted having sex with him knowing it was in your sisters too….the best thing for you and your son is to leave..he will still be able to see your son…do you think its good thing for your son to be around all that violence??he will grow up the same way thinking its ok to hit a woman..

I love my boyfriend and I think it’s important that I spend time with him at his place, but it’s a mess and it drives me crazy. He’s under a lot of stress from his job and he has a flatmate who isn’t very tidy, so I feel like I shouldn’t nag him about it, but the state of things stresses me out so much that it’s hard for me to relax and feel at home there.

I don’t think it’s right to just do the stuff that I think needs doing, since it is his place, but what can I do? Impose an ultimatum that I won’t go over there again until x, y and z are done?

I want clean sheets on the bed. The ones on there now haven’t been washed for at least a month, and it sketches me out.

I want to eat at a table while sitting on a chair. Right now we eat off of a coffee table while sunk in a couch and it hurts my stomach to eat bent over like that.

I want a kitchen light that works. The one in there now sometimes takes 30 minutes to turn on.

I want pots with handles on them, shelves to stack plates and cups on, and a square inch or two of counter space that isn’t covered in dirty dishes.

Last night we cooked in the dark by the light of a cell-phone flashlight, holding onto the pots with oven mitts because there are no handles. It’s sort of like going camping. Except in an apartment.

Any advice? I’ve thought of asking him if he wants to move in together somewhere, so I’d at least have an equal say in how living spaces are kept, but we live in a country where that isn’t really acceptable, so that’s out. What should I do?

Camping in comfort for most people seems to be an oxymoron. This is not so. Today you have a whole slew of camping conveniences that make your camping trip almost as comfortable as staying at home or in a RV. With today’s camping gear, any convenience you can dream of can be a reality.

Motorhome vs. Camping

A motorhome would be nice but not everybody can afford one. However, camping gear can easily be bought over time to build up your comforts at affordable prices.

While you may not have the extra comforts of a motorhome, you will be able to stay surprisingly comfortable. You will find that camping is a lot cheaper than a motorhome. Plus, you can go a lot more places camping than you can go in a traditional motorhome or RV.

Bet you aren’t going to take a motor home out on a beach. Who needs to get stuck? With the right gear you can go almost anywhere.

Bathrooms and Shower a Must

For those of us who must have a shower with hot water, you can now find hot showers available for camping. Many different models will give you choices you probably never considered.

Everyone will need to have a restroom. Guess what? They are now portable and private too. With so many to choose from, you can easily take one along that suits your need. The privacy of having your own facilities will make things more comfortable, sanitary, and pleasurable for everyone.

Sleeping in Comfort

When it comes to sleeping arrangements, don’t think you are limited to a sleeping. An air mattress will rival the best beds. Add to that you can get them with self-inflating pumps and you can camp in comfort.

If you like more modern conveniences, you can purchase small, light weight generators that will provide you electricity for:

Tents with Rooms

Living quarters provided by tents are now easily pitched and will have individual rooms if you so desire. I prefer to have individual tents for the kids, or guests that come along.

If bugs are the problem, there are many different kinds of screen tents available for those outside gatherings.

All of these items can be stored and packed in a car, pickup truck, or a small utility trailer. If you use a small utility trailer, your camping gear can be stored in it when not in use.

Yes, I have a portable air conditioner I travel with, if we are staying in a cabin without a/c. My coffee is made on the portable stove for the water and then use my french press or travel press. We have tv’s in the van and two laptops and still manage to make fire.
