Camping Is Best Enjoyed While Not Being Attacked By Bears

Camping has always been my favorite way to spend my free time. There are just so many wonderful things about camping that I love, the fresh air, preparing fresh caught salmon, the bonfires at night, sleeping under a starlit sky and my absolute favorite, not being dragged out of my tent and mauled to death by bears. To enjoy fresh air I need only bring myself (although quitting smoking has helped in this endeavor as well). To enjoy the salmon I bring the appropriate cooking utensils, fishing pole and tackle box. To enjoy the bonfires I need to remember to bring along waterproof matches and firewood. And to enjoy all of these things without having my camping trip cut short via bear mauling I always make sure to bring along Guard Alaska bear spray.
Bear attacks are not all that common but they do happen and it doesn’t make any sense to ‘play the odds’ and just hope you aren’t confronted by a bear while camping. If you are going to be travelling into areas where there is even the remotest chance of seeing one then please do you and your loved ones a favor by bringing along a proven bear spray. I know Guard Alaska works and I am sure there are some other brands that do as well but the important part is that you have it with you at all times. Bringing along bear spray and having it in the trunk of your car is not going to do you any good if you are out hiking and accidentally find yourself between a half-ton grizzly and her cubs. The mother bear is not going to wait while you trot back to the car to get your bear spray and if she attacks you have an extremely high chance of never camping (or breathing) again.
In all seriousness though it always astounds and saddens me when I read about a bear attack when I know how easy it can be to avoid one. A bear attack of any magnitude, even the ones that don’t prove fatal, can be immensely tragic for not only the victim and the victim’s family but also many times for the bear as it is often hunted down and killed after an attack on a human. Bears for the most part are not out looking for humans to attack, they attack because they feel that they are in danger or that their cubs are in danger. I always feel a deep regret for the bear when it has to die because of what really boils down to the human’s inability to plan or prepare properly before camping in bear populated areas.
So pretty please with sugar on top do not even consider camping in bear populated areas without bringing along, and carrying at all times, a bear spray like Guard Alaska.

I have a tent that sleeps six and a huge ice chest. Ill bring Bacon, eggs, boiled potatoes ready to fry and chorizo. Ill bring my camcorder along too. Ill bring all cooking utensils and paper plates, cups, and forks. What do ya think Of Grand Canyon? Lots of trees and really nice cool weather.

built to last,
I recently purchased two of these utensil kits as gifts. I have owned mine for many years and found it handy in the office as well as around many campfires. It is especially nice to to have when everyone else is trying to make do with disposable plastic. This is well made, functional and built to last.

|It works, but there are drawbacks.,
The individual utensils are easily accessed and work as advertised. However, I encountered two problems with this item.
First, it was not easy to separate the fork from the knife. There was no problem separating the spoon. However, separating the fork required considerable effort. How much effort? I had to place the unit on hard surface and hit the fork section with a hammer. I repeated this procedure approximately 20 times before the clasps loosened enough to enable me to disconnect and reconnect the fork with my hands. It should not have been that difficult.
Second, the locking mechanism for the knife is way to difficult to use right out of the box. I had to use a pair of pliers to initially unlock the knife. I used the pliers to soften the lock. It still required some effort to unlock the knife, but it was doable with my hands.
This item will serve my purposes after my modifications. However, you should be aware that the product may not initially usable right out of the box.

|Good Quality – Here’s How to Open It,
At first I was lost because there weren’t any instructions on how to use this. It took me 5-10 minutes to figure it out. The knife lock is on the back end of the knife handle. It’s a small slot that looks like a place to grab the blade to open it, however there is no groove in it for your fingertips. That is the lock. Press down on it to unlock the knife so you can close it. It’s simple once you understand how it works. I also found it easy to press down on the outside of the handle to slide the fork off. The spoon was stuck however and would not come off. I solved that the same way I free a jar lid that is stuck – I held a kitchen knife by the blade end and lightly struck the Hobo with the handle 2-3 times on each side and in each direction. After that the spoon slid right off. You could probably just slap it against your hand a few times to free it.
I like the fact that each utensil can be separated and used simultaneously.
